Experience With Schools
Our main clients with a continuing programme of building and repair work are Harrow School and Harrow College. Much of our work is repeat business, which we believe demonstrates that the necessary skills and experience exist in all projects; certainly the practice philosophy is founded on providing a very high quality service giving the client reassurance of reliability and efficiency.
Kenneth W Reed & Associates have worked for Harrow School continuously since 1978 on many of the buildings in their portfolio.
Repair and maintenance of listed buildings forms an important part, but involvement with their ten year rolling development plan has also seen the integration of a new sports hall, new CDT building and a new theatre.
For Harrow College we have prepared proposals for all types of school or college buildings and continue to input into their long term development programme despite financial cutbacks.
Our advice has helped the College construct a ten year programme, which has drastically affected the way the college has developed. Not only physically but educationally and operationally.
Major redevelopments have taken place at John Lyon School, York House School and Orley Farm School to name but some private schools. We are, however, equally at home working with local authority schools and grant maintained schools. Our expertise runs from infant to primary schools through secondary schools, V1 Form Colleges and Colleges of Higher Education.
We continue to maintain a close relationship with schools in the area and current legislation relating to Health and Safety, financing and other legislation.
The practice is often called upon to provide articles for magazines and journals and to represent architecture at schools' career evenings. The commitment is felt to be a positive advantage in understanding the structure of the schools in which the buildings form such an important part.
